Rim Cleaning is that easy! (If you follow our tips)

What is your biggest concern when cleaning your rims?

Certainly thoughts like:

"if I use the product incorrectly, I will damage my rims",

"there are so many rim cleaners, which one is right for my rim?"

or even "I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong."

We know about your concerns and we can understand them. Very well indeed! Because many car owners, classic car lovers and even collectors trust us and our products. As we do not make any distinction between professional and hobby use, you can be sure that hundreds of rims have been cleaned with our rim cleaner before you even consider ordering a bottle of it.

However, if you pay attention to these product characteristics and application instructions, your rim cleaning will be easy and quick:

  1. Do not wait too long before cleaning!
Time is a factor that should not be neglected when cleaning rims.
Heavily soiled rims are not only unattractive to look at, but also harder to clean over time, as the dirt literally "cakes up" due to heat and aggressive dirt particles (like brake dust). So the longer you wait to clean, the longer and more complex the rim cleaning will be. Climatic conditions, such as salt in winter or extreme heat in summer can be aggravating factors. But don't worry, you can also get problem cases under control again, because who doesn't know these weeks where you say to yourself "on Saturday I'll wash my car" and bang, suddenly it's Christmas.

  2. If you can make a wish: Acid-free and pH-neutral!
With all the dirt that sticks to a much used rim, you should not make the mistake of using a too aggressive cleaning product. Especially highly polished rims are susceptible to acids and so improper use can leave its marks in the form of small burns or veils. This does not even have to be your fault. If the product is "tilted" and thus unusable because it is simply broken, it can at best lose its effect, but at worst it can cause damage. Therefore always make sure not to use products that are too old. The rule of thumb is that a product should not go bad for 2 years if it is stored at a stable temperature and not in direct sunlight.

  3. Do not spray rim cleaner on hot rims - really do not!
Don't worry, your rim will not go up in flames and there is no danger of poisoning. However, we do not recommend spraying rim cleaner on hot rims, as the heat causes most of the active ingredients in the cleaner to evaporate. The evaporation of the ingredients also drastically reduces the cleaning performance or even creates a whitish layer on the rims. At normal usage temperature there is no damage to the rim (unless you have just come from the Nürburgring), but you waste product and have an even higher cleaning effort.

  4. It is best to spray rim cleaner onto dry rims! What does this mean?
Very simple: What happens if you mix a wine spritzer with too much mineral water? Correct, the effect is lost! The same (well, almost) happens with rim cleaner if you only use it after hand washing or after rinsing. The moisture on the rims dilutes the cleaner and minimizes the cleaning effect. Therefore we always start with the rims and then work on the bodywork.

  5. Why do some rim cleaners discolour
You've ever wondered what "colour indicator" means or are startled because your rim suddenly turns purple and looks like it's bleeding out? Then you have used a rim cleaner that has a built-in hint when it is best to rinse the rim. The mechanism is simple: the rim cleaner is sprayed onto the rim and the active ingredients react with the dissolved dirt and oxygen. If enough dirt is dissolved, a chain reaction occurs and the colour changes. Then it is time to rinse off the rim cleaner and you can be sure that you will avoid damage caused by too long product exposure. Pretty clever, isn't it?

But what to do if the rim is really really dirty?

In this case we recommend rim brushes. However, make sure that the fibres are not too hard, otherwise they will leave micro-scratches. We usually use rim brushes made of wool or synthetic wool or soft synthetic fibres. Alternatively, rim brushes are also available. The disadvantage with these brushes, however, is the fact that you can't reach the rim beds, whereas with the classic wool rim brushes there are even curved versions with which you can easily reach and clean the back of the rims.

You see, rim cleaning is actually quite simple. All it takes is a few simple tips and nothing stands in the way of a gentle rim cleaning.
